a lunch break post.

i'm home from work on my lunch.

i love living 2 minutes away.

and i'm making midge take pictures with me while i kill time.

can you see that box behind me?
in the right hand corner?
that is my box of socks.

i got all unpacked and realized i don't have a single drawer or single square inch of closet space to put my socks.

so they remain in their box.

do you good organizers out there have any creative ideas of what i can do?

also, i'll honestly point out (so you don't judge us)
where lincoln has decided to hang his towels.

silly boy.

did you know we have a towel rack in the bathroom?

p.s.  i like having separate closets.  yay!

tuesday is today.

some photos of our lazy tuesday.

well, we aren't being completely lazy,
but we actually have a day off for once together.

it's wonderful.

midge always finds a place here to sleep.
it's probably the cutest thing ever.

we just love her.

do you like our gray walls?

i'm so totally in love with them.

like i really LOVE them.

the walls aren't complete yet, so a full post with pictures will be coming soon.

here's another preview of the wall above my desk.

the desk is small, but i LOVE it.

my mother painted this for me a few years ago.
it is her old make up table.

isn't it cute?

our weekend.

this weekend we said goodbye to our first apartment.

as we were cleaning, i got a little sad and teary eyed.

after all, we won't have a "first" apartment ever again.

then we moved the fridge to collect a couple of midge's toys
and found a dead mouse.

remember our unwelcome visitors?

then my sad feelings were gone.

goodbye first apartment.
and goodbye orange carpet.

yes, it was really that bright.

the forest green wallpaper was a great combination, don't you think?

haha.

we had some great memories there, and i will miss it a little.

we also got to hang out with chase, leah, and beck.

we just love them.

pretty soon i'll have pictures of our new room that i'm super excited about.

how was your weekend?

scratch, scratch, scratch.

we've had a few visitors this last few days

and let me tell you, it hasn't been fun!

i'm not being rude, because these guests are not welcome!

mice.

luckily i haven't actually seen one (yet!)

but they have taken up residence in the space between our ceiling and the second floor above us.

scratch, scratch, scratch.

i hear it all night and all day.

yuck.

we even discovered a hole chewed through midge's bag of food in the garage.

so we got some d-con and put it in the ceiling and garage.

but i still hear it...

scratch, scratch, scratch.

i guess i could say it's a good thing we have a cat, but i'm kind of afraid if midge caught one, i might get really grossed out.

i posted this on my facebook status on monday

and i had a friend reply saying in their first apartment they had BATS!

bats!!!  can you believe that?

she even said one night one fell on top of their covers while they were sleeping.

sounds just like a nightmare to me.

i have a heating vent right above my face in our bed and i'm kind of worried about mice droppings falling on my face in the middle of the night.

yuck.

i guess it could be worse right?  bats!!!  eeek!

what are you unwanted pest stories???

the oven.

once upon a time,

lincoln left the oven on all night after he cooked himself a pizza.

i, jalene, was not here to witness the incident, but was very concerned after hearing about it.

once upon another time,

lincoln left the oven on all day.

i, jalene, discovered the incident upon returning home from work.

once upon tonight,

lincoln left the oven on again after dinner.
(not so long this time).

we have a new rule at our house:

before removing the food from oven, TURN IT OFF!  and there is NO eating allowed until that is done.

lincoln made this rule up himself after the first incident...

but has yet to follow it.

apparently.

if our apartment burns down, i might have a good guess what the cause was.

2.11.2010

our little home.

guess what?

tonight, lincoln is going to look at our soon-to-be apartment!

i'm sad i can't be there to look at it too,
but i'm still sooooooo giddy!

the thought of having our own place is just about exciting as the wedding day, to me.

i'm so excited to make it our own.
hang up pictures of our wedding day.
buy matching bath mats and towels.
have an organized fridge.

our own place with our own stuff.

wahoo!!!
i'm so excited for him to call me after and tell me how it is.

it's a basement apartment rented out by an elderly couple who lives upstairs.
plus, it has a pool!!!

we are so so excited.

i can't wait until me and linc are roommies.
roommies for life.
rommies for forever.
not until we are married of course.

it's going to be sahweet!
